How to play Mancala on one device
- Open the board. The play button starts Same device mode or restores your saved local round.
- Choose a side. Player 1 is Gold and starts; Player 2 is Teal. All stone colors can be collected by either player.
- Choose a glowing pit. Its stones travel one by one around the board. The active player card shows who can play.
- Watch the last stone. A stone in your store earns another move. A landing in an empty pit may trigger a capture.
Count before you choose
Try counting from each pit to your store before you move. With the starting position, the third Gold pit from the left has four stones and can finish in the store. This earns another move, but a useful opening also considers what you leave for your opponent.
Look across from your empty pits. A well-timed landing can collect an entire opposite pit. Read the full Kalah rules for the capture and final sweep.
Make room for another round
Play again deals four stones into every pit. New round asks before replacing an unfinished local round. Repeatedly choosing Same device keeps the board. Local and computer games have separate saves, so switching modes does not overwrite the other round.

Mancala 2 Player FAQ
Can we play on the same phone?
Yes. Choose Same device and take turns choosing pits. The board stays in one orientation throughout the round.
Which version of Mancala is this?
Kalah with six pits per player and four stones in each small pit. Your own store receives stones during sowing; the opponent’s store is skipped. This version does not use relay sowing or a swap rule.
When do I capture stones?
When your last stone lands in an empty pit on your own side and the opposite pit contains stones. Both the landing stone and the opposite stones go to your store. An empty opposite pit means no capture.
How does the game end?
When either row of six pits becomes empty, the other player moves their remaining stones into their own store. The larger total wins; 24 stones each is a draw.
Does Gold always go first?
Yes. Player 1 stays Gold and starts each new round. You can swap who controls each side between local rounds.
