How to start Four in a Row with two players

  1. Open the board. The main button starts Same device mode or restores your saved local round.
  2. Pick a color. Player 1 uses Gold and plays first. Player 2 uses Coral.
  3. Choose a column. Tap or click anywhere along it. The disc falls to the lowest empty space.
  4. Pass the turn. Watch the highlighted player card. The first uninterrupted line of four wins.

A board that both players can read

Place a tablet between you, pass a phone or take turns at a computer. Every disc is visible to both players. You never need to hide the screen or hand the device over before an animation finishes.

Hover over a column to preview the landing space. With a keyboard, Tab to a column, use the left and right arrows to change columns, and press Enter or Space to drop. A full column is unavailable.

Look for two threats at once

Before dropping, check whether either color has three discs with a playable fourth space. A diagonal gap above an empty space is not immediately available: someone must fill the space underneath first.

The middle columns can contribute to several different lines. Build more than one possible finish so that your opponent has a harder choice. Read the complete rules for wins and drawn rounds.

Keep the rivalry going

Play again starts a fresh board after the result. New round asks for confirmation if your current local round is unfinished. Gold starts each round. Same device keeps the existing board when you press it again.

GOOD TO KNOW

Four in a Row 2 Player FAQ

Can two players use one phone?

Yes. Choose Same device and take turns dropping discs. Both players see the same board.

Can I put a disc in any empty space?

You choose a column, and gravity decides the row. The disc always occupies the lowest empty space in that column.

How many discs make a winning line?

Four or more uninterrupted discs of one color across, down or diagonally. The winning discs are highlighted.

Does a new round change our colors?

No. Player 1 stays Gold, Player 2 stays Coral, and Gold starts again.

Will the browser remember our board?

Local moves save when browser storage is available. Refreshing restores the board; clearing site data removes it. Computer mode has its own save.
