How to start a two-player backgammon game
- Open the board. Same device restores your local game or prepares the classic opening layout.
- Choose your checkers. Player 1 is White; Player 2 is Black.
- Roll to start. One die is rolled for each player. The higher number starts and uses both numbers. Equal dice are rolled again.
- Make your moves. Select a glowing checker, then a marked destination. The next player rolls when the turn is complete.
Two directions, one race home
White moves from the top-right point across the top to the left, then across the bottom towards its bottom-right home. Black moves the opposite way and finishes in the top-right home. Each home contains six points.
Use Game menu → Flip board to turn the view. The position and turn stay the same. Click or tap a checker, then its marked destination.
Use the roll you have
Each die represents a separate move. You may move one checker twice if both steps are legal, or move two different checkers. Doubles give four moves of the same number.
You must use the maximum possible number of dice. If only one of two different numbers can be played, use the higher number whenever possible. Legal move hints already account for these requirements. A blocked turn offers Pass turn.
Bring all fifteen checkers off the board
Once all your active checkers are in your home, use the dice to move them into the side tray. An exact number removes a checker from its corresponding point. An oversized number may remove the farthest checker only. First to remove all fifteen wins.
