Start a solo Mancala round
The play button opens computer mode with your saved difficulty, or Medium on the first visit. In the game, choose Vs computer to open the Easy, Medium and Hard selection. Cancel leaves your mode, board and difficulty unchanged.
You control Gold and start. The computer controls Teal. Choose one of your glowing pits and watch the stones travel. The computer may make several moves in succession when it earns extra moves.
What the difficulty changes
Easy chooses among legal pits at random, making it a relaxed way to learn sowing and captures. Medium searches a few moves ahead and weighs stored stones against possible replies. Hard searches further with a larger calculation budget, including sequences of extra moves.
All levels follow exactly the same rules and see the same public board. Hard is a stronger practice opponent, not a promise of perfect play. Choose Vs computer again whenever you want to change the level; your current position stays in place.
Three things to watch
- Count to your store. An extra move can turn a modest opening into a useful sequence.
- Look across the board. An empty pit on your side can become a capture opportunity, but your opponent has the same possibility.
- Check the endgame. Emptying your side ends the round immediately. Count the remaining stones before handing them to the other store.

Pause, return or invite someone
Your solo round and chosen difficulty are saved in this browser when storage is available. Refreshing restores a saved computer round and resumes its pending move. New round keeps your current mode and difficulty.

Which side do I play against the computer?
You play Gold and move first. Teal is controlled by the computer, including any extra moves it earns.
Can I change difficulty without restarting?
Yes. Press Vs computer and choose a different level. The current round stays in place and the next computer decision uses the selected level.
Is Hard unbeatable?
No. Hard uses a deeper bounded search, but it is not a perfect-play guarantee.
Which version of Mancala is this?
Kalah with six pits per player and four stones in each small pit. Your own store receives stones during sowing; the opponent’s store is skipped. This version does not use relay sowing or a swap rule.
When do I capture stones?
When your last stone lands in an empty pit on your own side and the opposite pit contains stones. Both the landing stone and the opposite stones go to your store. An empty opposite pit means no capture.
How does the game end?
When either row of six pits becomes empty, the other player moves their remaining stones into their own store. The larger total wins; 24 stones each is a draw.
