Invite your friend to Ludo
- Create a room. Invite a friend opens a private Ludo table.
- Share your invitation. Use Play with a friend or Share invitation, copy the link and send it to your opponent.
- Take your colours. The creator is Red and the first guest is Blue. Your browser remembers your seat.
- Start the race. Once both players are connected, Red can roll. Choose a highlighted pawn after a legal roll.
For one shared screen, try Ludo for two players. For a solo race, play against the computer. The online guide explains every mode. There is no random matchmaking.
Ludo rules: bring all four pawns home
This is two-player Ludo with Red and Blue in opposite corners, four pawns per colour and one six-sided die. The other two corners are inactive. Red starts every round. Ludo has many variations; these house rules are fixed for all three modes.
- Leave the yard on a six. Put a pawn on its starting star, or use the six to move a pawn already on the board.
- Move clockwise. Choose one pawn and move it by the full roll. You cannot split a roll between pawns.
- Roll again after a six. The third consecutive six ends the turn without a move on that roll. Your earlier moves remain.
- Capture by landing. Land on an unsafe square occupied by an opponent to send every opposing pawn there back to its yard.
- Stars are safe. The eight marked squares, including all four starting squares, protect every colour. Both colours can share them.
- No blockades. Pawns may share and pass squares. A stack does not block the track.
- Follow your home lane. After a lap, your pawn leaves the shared track for its own coloured lane. An exact roll is needed to reach the centre.
- No legal move? The turn passes automatically unless the roll was a six, which earns another roll. Capturing or finishing a pawn does not grant an extra roll.
- Finish all four. The first player to get every pawn home wins.
Tap or click a pawn, or use the numbered pawn buttons above the board. Tab and Enter/Space work too. The highlighted player card shows the active player; each card counts the pawns already home.
Keep an eye on the next star
A pawn near home is valuable, but leaving all your other pawns in the yard gives you fewer choices. A six can launch another runner or move one closer to safety. Look at nearby rival pawns before leaving a star.
Capture opportunities can be tempting. Count the distance your opponent would need to capture you in return, and remember that luck still matters. The game has no clock, so take a moment to compare your legal moves.
Reconnect and keep the race going
The server saves the roll or pawn move before confirming it to both players. Return through the same invitation in the same browser to restore your seat, board and any pending die. Both players must be connected before an action can be accepted.
After the guest joins, New round requires both players to agree. An accepted roll or pawn move cancels a pending request. Before a guest joins, the host can reset alone. Play again uses the same agreement after a win. Your colours stay the same and Red starts again.
Before the first roll
Can we play on different devices?
Yes. Send the private invitation to your friend and keep both browsers connected.
Are four players supported?
This version is for two players with four pawns each. The red and blue corners are active.
Why did my third six end the turn?
Three consecutive sixes end the turn. The third roll is not played, while moves from the first two remain.
Can a pawn be captured on a star?
No. All eight stars are safe for both colours. Home lanes are private and safe too.
Does a capture earn an extra roll?
No. In this version only a six grants another roll. Reaching home does not grant one either.
Can we choose our own dice?
No. In online rooms the server generates the die result and sends the same result to both players.
Your next six is waiting.
Send an invitation and enjoy a little friendly race.
