YOUR FRIEND. YOUR ARENA.

A growing rivalry.

Two snakes. One survivor. Eat apples, grow your tail and outlast your rival in a bright block-style arena.

The actual Snake Duel arena with teal and coral block snakes, apples and sandstone obstacles
The real arena you will play on.

Choose your challenge

Create a private room, copy the invitation and send it to your friend. Both players press Ready to play. Each browser controls only its own snake. There is no random matchmaking and no account is required.

Five wins. One survivor.

Win five rounds to take the match. Apples add one body segment. Avoid the edge, stone blocks and both snakes’ bodies. Head-on contact eliminates both snakes and awards no point. After 90 seconds, the longer snake wins; equal lengths draw. Both snakes accelerate equally as food is eaten. Every round generates a fresh, symmetric obstacle layout with clear starting lanes.

Pick a direction. Keep moving.

Move the mouse over the arena to steer towards the cursor. Player 1 can also use WASD; Player 2 uses the arrow keys. Online or against the computer, either key set controls your snake. On touchscreens, hold to show a joystick and slide to turn. In local play, Player 1 starts a joystick on the bottom half and Player 2 on the top half. Release to keep moving straight. Steer freely through any angle. The head turns smoothly towards your target and the body follows its exact trail. Space pauses or resumes.

Keep a way out.

Leave an escape route before chasing an apple. Growing makes it easier to cut off your rival, but also takes away your own room to turn. Watch where both tails will move next and avoid meeting the other head at a narrow opening.

A smarter rival.

Choose Easy, Medium or Hard in the Vs computer menu. Easy makes less direct routes. Medium checks available space; Hard also anticipates the other head’s path. All levels follow the same movement and collision rules. Changing difficulty preserves the current arena and scores.

Pick up where you left off.

Local and computer matches save separately at pauses, round boundaries and periodic checkpoints. Reloading restores the saved arena and score with play paused; the last two seconds may be lost after an abrupt close. Browser storage is required for local saves. The server controls movement, food and points. A hidden tab or disconnection pauses both snakes. Reopen the invitation in the same browser and both press Ready again. Round results are saved before publication; checkpoints preserve play between rounds. Both players must agree to a rematch.

Questions & answers

What happens when both snakes crash?

Neither player scores. After a short pause, the next round starts on a fresh arena.

Can we play on phones?

Yes. Use separate coloured joysticks on one touchscreen, or invite your friend to play on a second device.

Is there a time limit?

Each round lasts up to 90 seconds. If both snakes survive, the longer snake wins. Equal lengths draw.
