Open the board, then choose how to play
Play Reversi Online opens Same device mode. Take turns with someone beside you, choose Play with a friend for a private invitation, or choose Vs computer and a difficulty level.
The board runs in your browser without an app installation or account. This overview does not start random matchmaking; online rooms are for the person who receives your link.
Flip the lines you surround
Start with four discs in the center of an 8 × 8 board. Black goes first. A legal placement traps at least one opposing disc between the new disc and an existing disc of your color. Every trapped line flips, including diagonals. Flips do not cause chain reactions.
A player with no legal move passes automatically. When neither player can move, the round ends, even with empty squares remaining. The larger disc count wins; equal counts are a draw. See the full rules.
Three ways to spend a round
Two players on one device share a visible board and alternate inputs. Play with a friend gives each person a seat on their own device, with confirmed moves synchronized through the room.
Vs computer keeps you on Black and offers Easy, Medium and Hard. Local and computer play do not need a room. Private rooms require both players to stay connected.
Clear hints, familiar controls
Small rings identify legal squares; click or tap one to place a disc. Trapped discs flip automatically. The gold dot identifies the last move, the highlighted profile identifies the active player, and the profile numbers show the score.
Tab to focus the board, use arrow keys to select, then press Enter or Space. Home selects an available move. The board resizes to fit the window while keeping both profiles above it.
Resume a game or start again
The browser saves local and computer games separately. A private room stores confirmed moves; return using its link in the same browser to recover your seat. Rooms expire after seven days of inactivity.
New round preserves the current mode. An unfinished local round asks for confirmation; an online round requires both players to agree after the guest joins.
