Invite a friend to go fishing

Open Play with a friend, copy the private invitation and share it with your friend. The first guest takes the second seat. Each browser receives its own hand. Stay connected to make requests; reopen the same invitation in the same browser to recover your seat.

Ask, fish and collect books

Each player receives seven cards from a shuffled 52-card deck without jokers. Player 1 starts the first round; the starter alternates in later rounds. A book is all four cards of one rank. Suits do not matter.

Select a card in your hand, then press Ask for rank. You must hold that rank. Your opponent automatically gives you ALL matching cards. A successful request keeps your turn. Four matching cards become a face-up book automatically.

No match? Press Go fish to draw exactly one card from the pond. If it has the rank you requested, or completes a book, ask again. Otherwise the turn passes. A nonmatching draw stays private.

An empty hand receives one card automatically when its turn begins, if the pond has cards. When the pond is empty, an unsuccessful request passes the turn. Keep playing until all 13 books are collected. The player with more books wins; every round stands alone.

On one device, pass it before revealing the next hand. Online, each player receives only their own cards and public facts. The computer uses the same limited information: Easy picks randomly, Medium favors pairs and triples, and Hard also remembers public requests.

Remember the last request

Remember the ranks your opponent asks for: those requests reveal something about their hand. A triple needs just one more card, but a remembered request can be a more reliable catch. Watch the pond count as the deck runs low.

Return to your private table

Local and computer rounds save separately in this browser, including pending draws and completed books. Changing difficulty keeps the current round. Private rooms require both players to be connected and both to agree to a new round. Reopen your invitation in the same browser to recover your seat. Clearing site data removes local saves and seat credentials; inactive rooms expire after seven days.

Questions about Go Fish

Do I collect pairs or four of a kind?

This version uses books of four cards of the same rank. Pairs alone do not score.

Do I draw until I get a match?

No. Draw exactly one card after a failed request. A matching rank or completed book gives another request; otherwise the turn passes.

What happens when my hand is empty?

At the start of your turn, you automatically receive one card if any remain in the pond. The round continues until all 13 books are collected.

Can the computer see my hand?

No. Hard remembers public requests, but every level receives only its own cards and public information.

A good catch starts with a question.
