Invite your friend in four steps
- Create a private board. Press Invite a friend to Checkers.
- Copy the link. Use Share invitation or Play with a friend in the game.
- Send it to your opponent. They open the link on their own device or in a separate browser profile. The first guest takes Black.
- Stay connected. White moves first. Only the player whose turn it is can move.
Opening your own invitation in the same browser restores your seat. The guest sees Black nearest them. Either player may use Game menu → Flip board.
Russian checkers: the rules of this board
This board uses Russian draughts: 8×8 squares, twelve pieces per player, and White moves first. Men move one square diagonally forward and capture both forward and backward. Kings travel along clear diagonals.
Captures are compulsory. Continue a capture until there are no more jumps on that route. If several complete routes are available, you can choose any of them; taking the largest number is not required. A man reaching the far edge becomes a king immediately, even during a series.
Capturing and choosing a route
Jump over one enemy to an empty diagonal square beyond it. A man lands immediately beyond the enemy; a king may travel farther. Keep jumping whenever the chosen route has another capture. Captured pieces remain obstacles until the whole turn ends and cannot be captured twice.
Choose the highlighted final destination to complete the series. When several routes share that square, the game asks which sequence of enemy squares to capture. A route may return to the starting square.
Crowning a king
A man reaching the far edge gains a crown. If this happens during a capture, it immediately continues as a flying king and stays a king even if it ends elsewhere.
Winning
Capture all your opponent’s pieces or leave them with no legal move on their turn. A blocked side loses; it is not a stalemate draw.
When the game is drawn
The game automatically draws when the same position with the same player to move occurs three times, or after fifteen moves by each side using only kings without a capture.
The existing Russian rules also track special endings: three or more kings against a lone king, selected small-material endings, and the lone king on the long diagonal. Their applicable move counters are preserved across saves and reconnections. There is no separate draw-claim button.
Reconnect or start another round
Confirmed online turns save on the server before they appear as accepted. Temporary disconnections trigger reconnection; both players must be connected for the next move. Return with the same browser and invitation to restore your seat.
Clearing browser storage removes the credential for your seat. Opening that seat in another tab replaces the earlier connection. Rooms expire after seven days without activity.
Either player can request New round, but both must agree. White starts the rematch. Open Game menu → Moves to review or copy the move history before resetting.
For other ways to play, try one shared device, a computer opponent or the online overview.
